Program Summary
The Big White Freestyle FUNdamentals programs are for entry level skiers looking for people to ride with that are faster and more adventurous than their parents. The focus of these programs is to have fun, make friends, and safely learn fundamental ski techniques with a freestyle spin added in. FUNdamentals athletes should be able to confidently ride blue or black runs, load and unload the chairlift independently, and manage their gear.
The FUNdamentals athletes will venture all over the mountain to gain confidence and competence riding groomers, jumps, rails, boxes, halfpipes, glades, moguls, natural drops, and powder.
Winter training is held at our home resort of Big White, and consists of 10 half-day training sessions with morning and afternoon options for Saturdays, or a Sunday morning option beginning January 9 or 10, 2027.

Program Summary
The Big White Freestyle Junior Crew Teams are the same as our intermediate Crew programs whose purpose is to create confident and competent skiers, with no additional intensive training camps included. The focus of these programs is to improve the athletes’ fundamental technique all over the mountain through planned progressions of their technical and acrobatic skills. Athletes will be exposed to a wide variety of natural and manmade features under the supervision of qualified and experienced coaches while they begin mastering carving, jumping, rails/boxes, halfpipe, ski-cross, natural drops, powder, and all mountain moguls.
Winter training is held at our home resort of Big White, and typically consists of one day per week once full facilities are available on a flexible, weather dependent schedule.
Junior Crew Team athletes will have the opportunity to participate in local and regional entry level competitions. While Junior Crew Team athletes are encouraged to experiment with entering local competitions, there is no pressure or expectation they will do so.

Program Summary
The Junior Performance Team is a stepping stone between the Crew and Performance teams, and is tailored to athletes who might want to take training for competitions seriously, but not “four days a week seriously”. The Junior Performance training philosophy is similar to our Performance teams, however, the commitment is reduced to two days of on snow training and one evening session per week. As the emphasis is more on skill acquisition and mastery, the Junior Performance team encourages athletes to target attending only 2-3 competitions per year selected from Freestyle BC’s Shred Series and Timber Tours.
Invitations from the Head Coach are required prior to signing up for the Junior Performance Team.
If you feel you are ready for this level of program and would like an invitation, please email: director@bigwhitefreestyle.com
All applications for an invitation will be reviewed by a panel consisting of the Head Coach, at least one other Performance Team Coach, and at least one board member. An assessment period may be required to ensure the athlete is placed in the appropriate Performance Team group.
Placement on the Junior Performance Teams is guided by:
Our Junior Performance Team coaches are highly qualified professionals who are all ex-competitors.

Program Summary
The Big White Freestyle Performance Teams are our high performance programs whose purpose is to advance athletes to the Freestyle BC Park Team. The Performance Teams target 3-5 Timber Tour, Canada Cup and Junior National events per season.
The Performance Teams’ training regimen includes strength and conditioning, trampoline, airbag and water ramp training. There is an expectation that athletes will engage in a few hours of self-directed strength and conditioning per week in addition to the group sessions.
Winter training is primarily held at our home resort of Big White, and typically consists of two off snow evening sessions (e.g. trampoline, strength and conditioning, yoga, pilates, video review, training planning/review) and two on snow days per week once full facilities are available on a flexible, weather dependent schedule. As an outdoor based winter sport, training sessions at other resorts in the Thompson Okanagan may be offered as needed based on facility availability and athlete requirements.
Invitations from the Head Coach are required prior to signing up for the Performance Teams.
