FAQ

Big White Freestyle Club

Common questions about our programs, safety, fees, and more.

All Big White Freestyle winter programs include coaching from highly certified freestyle coaches. Athletes meet Saturday or Sunday mornings at 9:00am at the bottom of the Snow Ghost chair behind the Ridge Rocket Lodge. Athletes will be dismissed from training for lunch from 11:30 – 12:30pm in the village. Parents are expected to pick-up/return athletes 12 years old and under on time. Training starts again at 12:30 behind the Ridge Rocket Lodge and days finish in the village at 3:00pm. Additional breaks are at the coaches’ discretion.

Skiers and boarders MUST have their own Big White Resort season pass, skis/snowboards, poles, boots, goggles, gloves and be appropriately dressed for winter weather in a mountain environment. Proper fitting ski/board helmets are MANDATORY. Back protectors, hip pads, wrist guards (snowboarders), and mouth guards are encouraged.

We try to run every scheduled session. Cancellations may occur due to inclement weather, coach illness, or injury. We will notify everyone by email and TeamSnap as soon as possible.

Yes! Our introductory FUNdamentals programs have half-day options. While we try to offer three half day timeslots for FUNdamentals, sometimes the numbers for a chosen time slot are not feasible to run safely or financially responsible. You will be notified of any change to your chosen time slot after registration is closed. Full fees apply even if athletes cannot attend all sessions.

Yes, we offer G-Teams at the FUNdamentals, Junior Crew, and Crew levels when the numbers allow us to do so safely and financially responsibly.

Safety is a top priority. Coaches emphasize skiing/boarding within limits, monitoring the weather conditions, paying attention to their surroundings, and following the Alpine Responsibility Code is mandatory. Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding are contact sports, meaning sometimes accidents happen. Our coaches are trained on what to do if an accident occurs. Accident reports are completed as required by our sports’ governing bodies.

Contact your coach via TeamSnap or check in with the Program Director. We understand life happens, however, one late athlete can impact an entire group's lesson plan. If your athlete cannot attend a session, please notify your athlete’s coach as soon as practicable.

Full fees are due prior to the season start. We offer pro-rated credits for club-cancelled days. Athlete cancellations due to injury receive monthly prorated credit (minus $250 admin fee). No credits after February 1st.

No. Teams are dismissed for lunch from 11:30 – 12:30pm. Parents are responsible for pick-up and return as per our Duty of Care policy.
